
The 71st National Day of Sri Lanka

The 71st National Day of Sri Lanka was celebrated today on 4 February 2019 at Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies, to commemorate the nation’s independence from British rule on this day in 1948. The celebration was inaugurated with flag-hosting, National Anthem and tree planting In the presence of Dr. M.A.M. Shukri (Director), As-sheikh A.C. Agar Mohamed (Deputy Director), Heads of departments, staff and students of NIIS.
The event was followed by a speech on the independence of Sri Lanka and the great contribution of Muslims to it, delivered by the Deputy Director.
